Desert Color Christmas tree serves as a symbol of light, hope, community

When someone’s vision comes to light, they want to share it.

And this time of year, Tina Pierson and the Desert Color community are sharing literally thousands of lights, decorations and Christmas joy by way of a tree which, while artificial, is bringing the spirit of the season to life.

At 40 feet tall and 30 feet in diameter, “This tree holds significance for us, symbolizing hope, remembrance and community strength.”

These words come from “The Tribute to the Tree,” which Pierson, who serves as Desert Color’s lifestyle director, wrote and shared with St. George News. She also explained what is at the heart of something more than a temporary decoration.

“The majestic presence of the tree stands as a testament to the resilience of unity within our community,” the tribute says. “Its branches reflect the bold connections we share as friends and neighbors. This tree is more than just a festive decoration; it is a shining representation of collective strength and each member of our community that together creates a beautiful tapestry of support and understanding.”

Without question, COVID-19 has presented the world with health and economic challenges at scales, magnitudes and velocities that none of us have ever experienced or anticipated. The way the world is doing business has been drastically altered, and no one knows for certain what a “new normal” will look like or when it will come. That said, Desert Color is moving forward, with an abundance caution and optimism. Here are some items we would like you to know:

Desert Color’s primary concern is the health and safety of its employees, its many contractors and subcontractors, those who visit the development, and the general public.
Desert Color is following local, state and national policies and procedures, like “social distancing,” to help prevent the virus from spreading.
Desert Color has a deep and abiding commitment to environmental, financial and social sustainability. As the project continues to move forward, Desert Color will be checking and assessing its development activities and investments to ensure that the project achieves positive long-term outcomes for its stakeholders and the community.
Desert Color partners are well positioned and have accounted for market volatility in the longevity of the development. We are fully confident in our ability to bring the full vision of Desert Color to life.

To date, Desert Color has been fortunate. We haven’t seen a crippling impact to the overall project. We continue to make investments in the project. Homes are being built and sold. We invite you to reach out to our builders and our commercial partners. They are engaging with the public in accordance with appropriate “social distancing” measures and would be delighted to hear from you. Come what may, we are not going away. Desert Color is more than just a project. We are members of the southern Utah family, and we are committed to help the family move through and beyond the challenges and frustrations that, no doubt, await us.
