K-6 CHARTER SCHOOL
Freedom Preparatory
Freedom Preparatory Academy officially opened its St. George K-6 Charter School in the Desert Color community with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Aug. 7. The building, which is phase one of the development, can accommodate up to 400 students. When phase two is complete, the school will accommodate up to 650 students, with an average class size of 20-25 students. The academy uses the Core Knowledge Sequence, Eureka Math and Wonders literacy curricula. These disciplines are said to ensure students meet or exceed the Utah State Core Curriculum.
CAREER AND TECHNICAL HIGH SCHOOL
Washington County CTE
Career Tech High School debuted its doors in August 2023 with a mission centered on empowering students. CTHS initially accepted students for grades 9 – 12 to start the first year. However, CTHS only anticipates accepting new 9th grade students for the 2024-2025 school year. Their goal is to equip learners with the knowledge, skills, and values essential for propelling their education, accelerating their careers, and enriching their lives.
UTAH TECH UNIVERSITY CAMPUS
UT Innovation District
Utah Tech University has officially transitioned into the planning stage of its “Innovation District” – a potentially 183-acre campus near Desert Color Center, west of St. George Regional Airport. The mission is to cultivate a dynamic innovation ecosystem that promotes cross-sector collaboration and nurtures creativity, invention, and innovation for societal benefit. The primary goal is to provide exceptional higher education while advancing economic vitality and resiliency through developing and implementing innovative solutions.
